Built for high-volume agency workflows
Agencies running Smartlead across dozens of client seats do not lose mailboxes because warmup failed. They lose them because unsegmented lists cross provider boundaries at volume. One mixed upload can push Google senders into Microsoft tenants all afternoon—then every client campaign on that pool starts to slip.
DomainSignal sits in front of Smartlead as a pre-flight identity layer. Probe the list once, tag each lead with live mailbox infrastructure, and queue only provider-aligned campaigns. Enterprise gateway leads (Proofpoint, Mimecast) get a plain-text sequence tag—no pixels, no tracked links—so sandbox detonations do not burn the shared sending pool.
The agency failure mode
One untagged CSV into a shared Smartlead rotator. Cross-sends stack. Three client retainers feel it the same week.
Edge identity in 18ms
Entra ID + Google discovery on every domain—including tenants hiding behind gateway MX that sequencers call “Other.”
Tag, then queue
Google / M365 / gateway tags on the lead. Smartlead campaigns stay matched. Gateway cohort is plain text only.
Realistic Smartlead vs Smartlead + DomainSignal
Keep the sequencer, the client workspaces, and the warmup. Add pre-flight matching before messages hit the queue.
| Metric | Standard Smartlead (Unsegmented) | Smartlead + DomainSignal (Pre-Flight Matched) | The Realistic Delta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary Inbox Placement | 50% – 60% | 75% – 85% | +25% to +30% lift |
| Sustained Open Rate | 12% – 18% | 28% – 38% | ~2x higher opens |
| Sending Mailbox Lifespan | 3 to 6 weeks | 5 to 8+ months | 4x to 5x longer life |
| Monthly Domain Overhead | ~$1,250/mo | ~$300/mo | Saves ~$950/month net |
Transparency Note
Open tracking is disabled on plain-text gateway leads on purpose. Proofpoint and Mimecast sandboxes click every tracked link and fire every pixel before a human sees the thread. Those detonations blacklist sending domains and inflate fake opens. DomainSignal flags gateway tenants so you strip tracking and send plain text. You lose pixel-based open rates on that cohort; you keep the mailbox. Treat replies and meetings as the KPI—not sequencer “opens.”
Tag gateway leads for plain-text sequences
High-volume ops: enrich once, tag in your sheet or CRM, then drop tagged CSVs into the right Smartlead campaign.
Step 1
Pre-flight the book of business
Run client lists through the Domain CSV Enricher or the API. Every row gets provider + gateway telemetry before anyone clicks Send in Smartlead.
Step 2
Tag by sending path
Label Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and enterprise gateway. Gateway tags mean plain-text copy, tracking off, no CTA links that a sandbox can detonate.
Step 3
Queue in Smartlead
Upload each tag into the matching campaign and mailbox pool. Shared agency infrastructure stays healthy for 6+ months at safe volume instead of rotating every few weeks.
